I just finished mounting my "new to me outboard" on my jon boat. I have an 1848 all weld tracker grizzley with a 40 HP Johnson that weighs a little over 200lbs. It came with two mounting bolts that mount a few inches below the top of the transom. My questions is are those two bolts enough support for that motor? Or should i drill two more holes through my transom lower on the mounting bracket and put two more bolts in it? Let me know what you guys think!!! Thank you.

The weight of the motor should rest on the transom and not the bolts. The bolts are probably 3/8" bolts and yes 2 bolts should be plenty for a 40hp. There should also be clamps on the motor also to help hold it in place. Make sure you got your motor at the correct height before drilling holes in your transom though.
