hey all, i have the oppurtunity to purchase a 2005 mercury 90/65 factory jet 2 stroke motor. I am wondering what woud be considered a good deal on this motor in great shape, I am also curious as of how reliable this motor is, and what the weight of it is to? I plan on putting this on a 1756 mod v jon, would a jet tunnel be wise or can a run fairly skinny on a normal mod v hull with a jack plate? Thanks for the info guys, i love this site.

Smaller merc are a pooch when you put a jet pump on them. I'd look for atleast a v4 for the size boat you have.

My buddy has a 04 90/65 jet on his 04 crestliner 1860 cc. It has plenty of power, with 3 people 30 mph no problem and that is at 5000 feet altitude. If I remember right the jet weighs 270 lbs. In Idaho it is a common jet to have and he has had 0 problems with it.
