Control Cables

I am in the process of converting a 06 Johnson from tiller to remote. I got the controls and internal parts in today and installed them. I was wondering how I measure for the throttle cables? Any help would be appreciated.

Before I decided to convert mine back to tiller, I was looking in to buying new cables. I came across a site, (I think it was teleflex) that sold cables that gave instructions on how to measure for them. You had to measure from the control box to the transom, then from the gunrail to the center of the motor, then you added those 2 measurements together and added a certain amount extra based on the type cable you were getting or something like that. I know that's not a lot of help but at least it might help guide you to finding the right info. Sorry, but I didn't keep the link to that info.

You were close......!
Measure from the center of the control box, along the gunnel to the transom. Then from the corner of the transom to the center of the engine and add 3ft. to make the proper bends.

Thanks guys! Should the motor be turned strait or off to the port side when measuring?

Doesnt make a difference....the part of the engine that clamps on the transom will always have a center point and doesnt move. Thats why you add 3' to the measurement...to allow for turns and tilting.
