Hello,

I have a 1973 Johnson 40hp that I need to convert from a long shaft to a short shaft. I am having a hard time finding someplace that has a used one sitting around.... any thoughts?

Thanks

I've had a lot of luck dealing with Marine recyclers and Outboard salvage companies. There is one here in mobile in particular that has came through time after time. Might be worth a try..

If he doesn't have one, ask where to find it..

You can try posting a free Webvertise WTB (want to buy) ad at the AOMCI (Anitque Outboard Motor Club Inc) website. A lot members have spare parts, motors, and parts motors. Salvage yards often troll through the ads for prospective buys.

Here is the link to AOMCI Webvertise. Please read the 1st link for the rules and 2nd link is the link for the actual posting.
