Just acquired this motor so don't know the history. It starts right up and runs decent but has a spit or miss about every 5 seconds or so , more frequent at higher rpm. Any thoughts. Running lean maybe? Does any one know proper way to adjust slow speed jet? Thanks!

The low speed mixture should be controlled by an adjustable needle, not a jet. Find it, usually near the top front of the carb in those years, and adjust it counterclockwise around a half turn to start with. That will probably take care of the issue and you may find that you can lean it back down some to get the best idle without the lean spit.
