Purchased this outboard approximately 3 years ago and to date the motor is running flawlessly. Last year i did notice as i was laying my crab trotline and running my outboard in reverse the outboard did not have any speed or power in reverse. I could throttle it all the way up in reverse, but nothing. What's up with this?, could it be an adjustment.

Is it going into gear and just revving up but the prop won't spin?
It goes in reverse fine, and it does go backwards in reverse, but at no speed. When you open the throttle up in reverse it does not back very fast and it does not have any power. I like to lay my trotline in reverse and when placed i like to pull the line tight. My friend has a 25 hp Merc. and when he in gauges reverse the motor has alot of power

Is it a custom prop? We had a custom prop on a 30 hp evinrude. Prop had a lot of cup shaped into it. It had a lot outta the hole but no reverse to speak of.
