I have a 1988 30 HP Evinrude that hasn't been run for 5-6 years due to a chain of events. This year I was determined to use said motor so I started by replacing the impeller. The gasoline was at least 3 years old but ever fall I would mix in double the suggested amount of Stabil.
I had started the motor a couple of times with the ear muffs and it was fine ideling but yesterday I went to the lake to try it out. The motor started and ran without missing a beat. I burned at least 3 gallons of fuel at both high speed and trolling with perfect performance.
My question is with this old gasoline "was this just luck or what"?
