When i try to start my 1975 25 evinrude all it wants to do it just backfire. I started it the other day and today its not starting. Its getting spark and the spark plugs are wet so i assume its getting fuel. Any idea what it might be?

When you say "backfire" could you possibly mean "sneeze"??

These motors are a little temper-mental on the low speed setting and some times need to be adjusted for weather.. Depending on temperature and humidity..
First off, install a new set of champion J4C plugs to rule them out.. ( I'm pretty sure those are the proper plugs)
Now 'assuming' that your carb and ignition systems are not the issue, you might have to tweak the low speed a little richer.. When adjusting, give it about 1/8 turn at a time, and let it run about 30 seconds for each adjustment to take effect.

When you pulled the plugs wires did you by chance get them switched when putting them back on?
