I have a 1648 weldbilt boat and i found a 40 hp johnson with remote controlls. My ? is can i put a stick steer at the back of the boat on the bench seat? I would like to keep the open floor design and mount a bracket on the left/middle side of the bench. Is this a safe application. I think it would be just as safe as a tiller handle...............thanks

Why not do a little research on the available lengths of steering cables and get your answer?

yeah there is definitely different sizes to fit your application, they've got anything from long tiller to short ones, id recommend a big boot instead of a really long one because it will handle getting bumped on a log/gator a little better
the reason i say gator is i hit one on my seapro last week, scared the crap out of me when i stopped and reached down to see if it was a log and it about took my hand off lol
