I'm probably just dumb, but I cant figure out how to get the throttle cables off the motor so I can remove it to paint. Any help would be appreciated greatly.

1 3/8 or 7/16 nut & they come off.Flip the bracket 90 deg to its original position & lift off.

That's how the older ones come off.(70's)

If that doesn't do it post a pic of what ya got. [-o<

Here is what I have and I must be dumb because I have no idea what you're talking about. :(

Yours is a little different.Just past the rubber boot that part is just a clip. The ends are held by a clip if you look closely.

I seen it. Problem is when I undo the clip, the barrels don't have enough room to come all of the way out. Are the barrels the only thing holding them in?

The barrels will just slip out & on the other end there will be a fork to accept your cable ends. There will probably be a nut or screw you have to loosen to get the end off.
