When I bought my jet outboard, I was given the prop lower unit as well. I have no intentions of ever converting the motor back to prop drive, and my transom isn't set up to run it anyhow, so I would like to sell just the lower unit.
My question is what's it worth? The motor is an 87 Johnson 40hp long shaft, J40ELCUD. The LU looks to be in decent shape, although the whole thing is painted camo and the skeg is pretty beat up. The prop is in good shape, a little wear on the leading edges but no deep gouges or dings. All the pieces are together, driveshaft, shift rod, water pump, etc. I can post pics when I get home, if that helps.
So what's the going rate on one in "well used" condition? If anyone is interested in it feel free to speak up
