Hello everyone newbie here. I hail from Owensboro,Ky. Fished years ago all the time. Got away from it,now that I'm older,I have gotten back into it. I have a 97 lowe with a 60 hp johnson on it. Seems to me that it uses way to much gas. Its nothing to run out the whole tank in a day.(12 gallons) My other boat has a 115 on it and doesnt use that much gas. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

I would check the compression on each cylinder. I had a 60hp that the middle cylinder ran lean on. I used it for another three months blown up; it ran but it would drink gas.

General rule of thumb on a 2 stroke gal/hr is 10% of hp at wot. 60hp=6 gal/hr at wot. So that sounds feasible if your running back and forth across the lake with some trolling mixed in.
