Hey guys, I bought a 1990 johnson 70 hp from a guy a few months ago and I have all kinds of problems. First off the motor boggs down when I get on it, but it gets a little better at higher rpms. I'm not sure if it's the motor or if the prop thats on there is too big. Second is the thing idles too high. Any imput would be great.

There are alot of adjustments that need to be made at the same time in order to properly bring the idle down. You may want to get a manual for that as I would have writers cramp by the time I got done describing it. Basically the carb throttle blades have to be completely closed to idle if you at least want to check that much.
As far as the bog goes, that engine should be turning very close to 6,000RPM at WOT trimmed out. If you are below it you need to step down in propeller pitch to achieve it. That engine will bog with too much propeller.
