I have a (topside) manual rope pull start sitting on my (flywheel). Is there any really big problem digging down to the ignition points? other than pulling the flywheel with a puller. Is there any "timing" issues to deal with?

Thanks for your time,

PS: This is the 18hp that has been sitten for 5 - 7 yrs. So I'll give it a pull but I'm just trying to plan ahead. Appreciate you knowledge.

I am going to be doing a complete tuneup (points, condens, lower seal kit.water pump kit, fuel kit etc.),
on a similar outboard (68 Evinrude Fastwin 18HP) this spring. I would be interested in seeing pics of the process.
I have never gotten that far into an outboard but I am familar with 2 stroke dirtbikes so im going to give it a shot.
From my understanding the old JonnyRudes will take a lickin and keep on ticking!
Good luck to you,
