Looking at buying a 2003 merc 25 with ss prop for 1700. Short shaft manual start but overall a good clean motor.

I think you can do better. I got a really nice 2005 Merc 25 tiller with electric start for $1500. I guess alot depends on the area you're in also.

Here in sw LA engines aint cheap. Makes me miss south MS alot....
