I needed to extend the tiller on my old 9.9 Evinrude and had a set of controls so I hooked them up and made a tiller out of a piece of aluminum tubing and a bicycle grip. You only use the tiller to steer, everything else was from the box. I'm going to build a similar tiller for my 25 HP Evinrude.

Does anyone else do this or am I the only one. You can make the tiller as long or short as you need it. I'd like to see some pictures of what you guys did for a tiller. This tiller will be stronger and have an emergency kill switch built in. Thanks Todd

Tiller extensions are fairly common on the small skiffs used down on the coast for fishing the flats and bays, usually in shallow water, and the boat operator can stand or sit depending on their preference. Post up some pics of your tiller when its done.
