I'm looking at getting a new boat & motor and I'm trying to decide between the 15 hp & 20 hp. I looked on Mercury website and compared them. The only differences are hp and full throttle rpm. The 15 hp rpm is 5000 - 60000 and the 20 hp rpm is 5400 - 6100. Other than that all others specs are the same. My question is will that be a noticeable difference work spending the extra $750 for. I'm looking at tiller handle electric start, boat is tracker topper 1542 a 2014.

I would not go smaller than the 20, and it's a slug. The 15 becomes quite sluggish on a bigger boat, especially if you take the kids fishing with you or load up with all the decoys, guns, ammo, and the dog(s). I have run a 1448 with a 20 and I wasn't impressed with it other than it had power tilt which is cool for a tiller steer small motor. It's not trim-just tilt.
