I have a 1972 Johnson 25 horse that needs gears, but I refuse to pay what the parts places are asking for them and so far have yet to find any used gears. I have a line on a 1986 Evinrude 20 horse at a decent price but it is a pull start. So, my question is would I be able to use the starter off of the 72 johnson 25 horse (I actually have two of these) or did they change them up in that 14 yr period?
