I have '82 Johnson 35 (electric start, no power trim). I cleaned/rebuilt carb and had break of several days due to sinus infection. Now it looks as if 1 piece of linkage may have wandered away (I was very careful to put everything into container). Pics in downloaded manual are useless. Can someone help with photos of carb with installed linkage :D .
Bass & crappie are calling my name  .

You may need professional help.

The linkage between the armature plate and the carburetor is two-stage and progressive. The procedure to adjust the linkage needs to be followed exactly if the engine is to run correctly. The process is called 'link and sync', linkage adjustment and synchronization. The factory manual is the gold standard here.

As far as putting it together goes, you will likely need to view another engine. The factory parts breakdowns are difficult because the linkage is not all shown on the same diagram. Part of it is on the 'intake manifold' and part is shown on the 'cylinder and crankcase' diagram.

I will try to get a picture of a similar engine with the flywheel removed and the linkage intact. This may help enough to get everything back in place. It is a task if the linkage was disconnected from the towershaft because the spring is difficult to install with the flywheel in the way.

Look for pictures here later this afternoon.

These are pictures of the linkage on my engine. The powerhead is a 2004 30hp. I looked at a 1984 30hp powerhead on the shelf and it was similar. The parts diagram for your 1982 35 was the same too.

Hope these pics can help.

I still have my 1982 35 Johnson. It's sitting at work till I get the time to deal with selling it. I'll take pics for you tomorrow. It's pull start but that shouldn't matter for the carb & linkage pics you need.

Hope this helps! I only have 1 linkage, I have manual start & manual choke. Let me know if you need a different angle or pic of something else.

Thanks zrxfishing - your photo helps some but since yours is pull start you don't have the electric choke solenoid with that linkage as well.
:)
