Got a Johnson 25 that hasn't been maintained much. What's the the best and safest way to clean the power head? I know I can get degreaser to spray on but is it safe to spray the power head with water? Thanks
Don't know if this quite the same but I was just talking with my brother who is in various stages of rebuilding half-a-dozen motorcycles. He used a whitewall cleaner that warned not to use on aluminum wheels because it took off the finish. It comes in a pump spray bottle. He sprayed it on, let it sit, tooth-brushed between the fins and rinsed off. The parts looked like they were right off the shelf.
Sure, just keep the water out of the intake and if it is an electric start keep it off of the top half of the starter. Keep the midsection wet with water if the finish is nice so you don't streak the paint.
