Evinrude help

I have a 1990 8hp evinrude 2 stroke that ran fine last time I took it out but now its hard to get it to start and when it does start it is very finicky to get it to stay running it wants to die out even if you try to rev it up it dies but the other day when I got it started it idled down and ran fine for a while but when I reved it back up it died out so I tought it might be the diaphrapm I replaced it started it up and same thing im thinking of taking the carburetor apart and cleaning it any other suggestions as to what the problem is?.

Carburetor. You just described one of the classic signs of a dirty carburetor.

guess I will be breaking it down and cleaning it then.
