I'm having some trouble with my little 9.9, I can't seem to be able to pull it up out of the water and get it to stay in tht position. Anyone have an idea of what it could be, broken bracket, operator error etc? Thanks guys for all the help
 
Mine has a little flip-up lever on the right side behind the transom and three notches. It has to be manually flipped to let the motor down.
 
Mine has the 3 notches and 2 more to lock it or unlock it. My problems is I can't get it to be tilted up and locked in that position while parked or in shallow water.
 
I am totally new to this, but on my 2003 Merc 9.9, I have to either have it in neutral or in gear on the tiller throttle ( cant remember which ) in order to move it up and down.
