So I open the mail the other day and Lowe has re-rated their 2070 console hulls from 115hp to 150hp and they sent me a new capacity plate.

Now I just have to find a buyer for a 2012 115 Opti.

115 felt like plenty of power until I was told I was now rated for 150. Now I feel so inadequate! #-o

I thought boats over 20' didnt need a hp plate?
Its just a recommendation for that size....

it's not over 20'.

Country Dave has kicked this issue around a lot on here and I agree with his argument completely that most if not all boats are under-rated for safety (legal) reasons. I have always felt that too much weight on the transom with the new 4-strokes is a bigger problem than too much power.

I work on the port and run in and out subject to coast guard as well as mdwfp checks too much to worry about being hassled over being overpowered based on the hull tag.

You are right in that I have already started shopping for a 150
