1989 Johnson throttle frozen

1989 Johnson 15 hp tiller throttle will not twist, how can I loosen it? any help would be greatly appreciated.

What do you mean the throttle won't twist? On the handle or at the carb?

I mean the twist grip on the tiller, it's connected to a cable that goes to the carburetor.

Disassemble and clean. Make sure you pay attention to where the parts go. The cable runs on a helix system. Once disassembled clean all parts. There is a good possibility the cable will need to be replaced. They are not cheap!

Pappy is telling you right. You've probably got corrosion on the inside.

I hope he checked to see if it was in neutral before he tore it apart. Good observation.

I haven't had time to tear it apart yet, but I did put It into neutral, then forward, then reverse and try to move the throttle but it still stays put, I guess I'll have to disassemble and hope for the best, thanks to everyone for the suggestions, I think that If I get this thing right I'll have a pretty good motor, by the way I'm putting it on an 13' 4" 1961 Arkansas Traveler, I'm also customizing a 16' Alumacraft Sea Nymph, I saw a new Lund 16" and like the layout, thanks again.
