Hi all,
I've recently broke one of the blades on my trolling motor :( It's an older Minn Kota Power Drive 765mx 28lb thrust.
So my problem is finding an replacement propeller.
I've purchased a new MKP-6 at Cabelas, however there is about 1 1/2" of exposed shaft now between the prop and the rear cap on the motor.
What, if any problems can result in using it this way? Also, the new prop is slightly larger in diameter than the original by 1" and is approximately1/4"past the bottom of the skeg.
Cheers.

Assuming you simply cannot find a replacement...

I'd make up an insert to fit in the gap. The simplest thing that I can think of is a piece of a 2x4. The 2x4 should measure 1 1/2 inches and you can cut a rough circle with almost any woodworking saw. Bandsaw would, obviously, be easiest.

As far as the blade extending beyond the skeg.......

I'd probably cut the extra blade length off. With it sticking out, it won't be long until you bend the shaft on a log.
