Anybody ever do it themselves? My bearings have some play and feel kind of rough and it is getting water in the lower unit (milky). I have a manual and I'm not afraid to use it. What am I getting into cost wise?

Don't know what year your motor is, but I checked into it for mine a while back and it was pretty expensive. You could check at this website, they have parts breakdowns, and prices. https://www.crowleymarine.com/

Click on the parts catalog and select your motor options and it will bring up a catalog with prices.

Good Luck.

I replaced all my lower unit seals on my 6hp mercury and it was hard. I won't do it again, still leaked :x it was about $400 bucks for a boat shop to do it, I did it around $125 and it still leaks, that sucks
