Help with selecting the right motor

I currently have a nice 98 mercury 8 HP with electric start on my Tracker Tadpole. It works fine but I want to build a center console and so I may need to get another motor.

The boat can handle up to a 15 HP motor so I am open to either a 9.9 or a 15.

What I require is an electric start. I already built a jack plate so it can be either a short shaft or long shaft.

I see a lot of old Evinrudes on the local Craigslist. How difficult is it to convert a tiller model to remote control throttle and steering? Do they require an adapter kit like the Mercury's?

Are there other models that convert easily/inexpensively from a tiller? I would prefer to buy used and put it together.
