I'm looking for information on an early 80's merc 9.8 2 stroke s#7151573
This is a Canadian motor, I've heard the serial numbers are different.
I would like to know exact age if possible? Prop size? And max rpm?
It gets pretty warm I think, much warmer than my merc 7.5hp.
Water temperature from (pee) telltale is 125f , Good flow.
Tried setting carb a little richer didn't help, maybe it's normal temp.
This is just running in garbage can, water is cool, mostly just high idle and in gear at idle.
Never reved up even half, just bought it, replaced impelled and cleaned up carb.
Compression 118 and 117psi
