I have a 1977 7.5 hp Mercury tiller Outboard. I need to change the lower unit oil. I have the drain gasket but the vent gasket has become an issue. This 90 cent part is going to cost me $5 to get!!! Is there any place where I can get one snail mailed to me? It can easily fit in an envelope and cost only 50 cents for a stamp! Should I just change the oil and not worry about it?

Part number: 191833

I used a gasket out of a carb rebuild kit for just that.

I never knew the upper screw had a gasket until I bought the lower one for this outboard. Apparently I didn't notice it on the 40 HP Merc I had when I changed its oil.

Know what size the gasket could be? I know its a screw and not a normal vent.

I generally just make my own gaskets for stuff like that if I can't find it locally. But if you don't like that option and can't find the one suggested already, here's one that's 30% off the $5 total you described. LoL

I believe I used a Holley Fuel Bowl Screw Gasket which any auto store should have.

Thanks! Looks like I will be making a trip to the auto parts store.

Already have that. It's the vent gasket that I need.

Advance Auto has no way to order just the Holly carb gasket. Kits only. So I still need to find a gasket.

Under $4 but that's still ridiculous for a screw gasket. For a few bucks you could buy a small sheet of gasket material and make as many as you want for the life of the motor or make one and have enough left over for several other projects when they come up.
