I have run ngk's in the past they don't last long ,I now only run champions and never have a problem. It is what is recommended by evinrude and Johnson.
Champions only for me in OMCs ... and gapped at 0.028" regardless if any manunal you may have says 0.030".

Champion spark plugs were the only plug used during the design of the engines and through the production of all Johnson/Evinrude engines.

Ok guys the verdict is in... I gapped the plugs at .028 and got a missfire at idle. Checked the plugs and covered in darkness. Round two. Gapped at .030 and the engine was happy all around. This is with champion plugs
