Never had issues with 2pc rods but have had to send out several 1pc rod-3pc crank assembly for rebuild in the last 40 years. If given the choice for ones fantasy motor, which would you choose? What other engineering design criteria would you go with for your fantasy motor.

Of course for a fantasy motor it must be a 2 stroke..right?

heres mine..

2 stroke
1pc crank
piston guided rod(s)
looper
adjustable exhaust port
carb
primer
lower unit sight glass
premix
corrosion proof
lifetime warranty

Anybody else??

I thought you were talking about fishing rods, did not look at the section.

My dream motor.....

Gets the boat on plane.
Runs good.

Well if you can't tell from my dream motor I like to go fast
2 stroke looper
flat top pistons
top pinned pistons
sealed light weight wristpins
forged 1 piece crank
Light weight aluminum flywheel (easier on top crank bearing)
finger ports (must have)
bridged exhaust or adjustable exhaust valve
o-ring heads (better heat transfer)
could go either way on carb or adjustable efi motor. (be nice not having to change jets with efi)
programmable ignition
15" mid section
tilt/trim

I'm likin the adjustable efi, maybe with lap top display of flow curve and such..
