Mercury mariner magnum 40hp carb leaking gas

Hello, I have a 1991 mariner 40hp magnum 4 cylinder twin carb motor. After running it, gas leaks out of the carb. I installed new floats and needle valves and it still leaks. The fuel seems to find its way to the butterfly valve rod, then drips off it. Otherwise, it seems to run done. The carb does seem a little wet inside with fuel once the motor is stopped. I would appreciate any advise. It's driving me crazy. Thanks.
