Chrysler 6hp wont stay running

I have a chrysler 6 hp outboard that wont stay running, i am trying this with last years gas that sat outside all year. it will run if i spray it with starting fluid. Bad gas?

empty out ALL the gas in the tank into a container.
Let it sit for a day or two - - - -
I bet you a box of jelly doughnuts there
is at least a cup of water in the gas.

fresh gas - clean the lines - clean the plugs = good to go.
your lawn mower and other gas powered equipment will
exhibit the same symptoms if left outside for a year.
