Was given this old motor today searched on the net for gas oil mix ratio,in pics it says 1/2 pt per gallon trying to figure the ratio ex..newer engines have a 50to one ratio what would be the numbers for 1/2 pt per gallon,,,havent tried to start this old engine yet but would like to have the right oil gas mix before firing it up,,,

in 1948 I don't think they had the refined oils that we have today.
8oz of oil to a US Gallon would be a 16:1 mix ratio which is correct.
anything less and you run the very possible risk of a burn out.......

This is just the gas/oil mix. I am not going to enter the
ethanol vs nonethanol debate.
