Hi, I recently puchased a 2002 mercury 25 hp 4 stroke outboard. Can someone give the the correct cold starting procedure for this motor. Unlike most outboards I've owned over the years, this one does not appear to have a choking mechanism. This motor is a pull start. All input appreciated.

Pull rope. Engine should start. It is prime start (no choke). If it doesn't start without "help" (starting fluid), then the prime start is either (1) not working, (2) the passage in the carb is plugged or (3) there is another problem somewhere else.

I read on another forum to advance throttle 1-3 times before attempting to start which squirts fuel into the carb. I tried it yesterday. Motor fired on first pull. Thanks.
