I just bought a boat with a 9.9 Johnson and the boat and motor have been sitting since 1985 where do I begin with this motor to see if it even starts? the fuel line is not dry rotted and also the motor is not seized up..

Check compression,going to have to do the carb. cleaning fuel system,
check water impellor,change lower unit oil,spark plugs(may as well check for spark to)...thats a good start
