Need help with old motor

I have no clue on the year of the motor and I have no clue on how to measure if its a short or long shaft motor.I pulled it out of a barn today and offered the lady 80 bucks for it she said it ran when it was stored but I know how that goes. Did I get a good deal?

Looks like a good deal to me. A little spit and polish and an impeller and off you go.

Hard to be sure from your pictures, but it looks like a 1967 6 hp. ? Model CD-24..

Well I checked compression today at school 57 on top and 60 on bottom cylinder and it is getting spark because it shocked me when I checked and then we used some ether spray and got it to sputter so I guess I'm gonna take a gas tank and lines up to school tommarow and see how it goes

And check the oil in the lower unit befor you run it. May not have a pee hole to see if water is circulating so keep a close eye on over heating. Great simple bullet proof little engine all it ever wants is lube and cooling.

The impeller is likely to be set and/or cracked from age. Getting in to the pump may be a fight with corrosion, but it will be worth it.
