1989 force 50HP isn't getting spark

Motor ran fine until yesterday went to lake with son to do a little fishing went to fire up motor wouldn't start. This morning changed the plugs and tried again but still won't start so did some digging and found out I have no spark. I was wondering if anyone can tell me how to test the coil packs and also to test the stator do I need to take off the flywheel or can I test it still on? Everything I seen on YouTube they had the stator off. Many thanks in advance.

Several things to check. They are notorious for the magnets coming loose from the flywheel.
