I have a mid 80's 15hp ss tiller that has audible knock or piston slap. I'm going to sell it as a running parts motor. It has new impeller kit, zincs and 2 new props- a 9x9 3 blade and a 7x9 4 blade. What should I price it at?
 
Used running 15hps are $800+ here in the Northeast ... so look around, gauge prices and go from there.

FWIW I once had a Yam 40hp with a tick, that became a knock (under the new owner's use) and he's still running it. He does, however, admit to cruising at RPMs no > 4,500, so maybe that doesn't stress whatefers making the racket.
 
Sold it on C.L. for $200. The guy has a boat salvage yard in LA. He was ok with the shaking a coffee can with gravel in it sound.
