I spun the hub on what I’m pretty sure is the original prop on my 1973 Mercury model 200 20 hp. I went ahead and picked up a new prop from Michigan Match, went with 3 blade rather than the original 2.

Having a bit of trouble getting the new prop on. It fits in the shaft fine but it doesn’t seem to be fitting on all the way with all the collars that were on with the old prop. As you can see in the pics, it almost seems like there is an extra collar. In the pics, it’s the smallest collar, that you can see won’t fit flush due to the taper of the end of the drive shaft. On top of all that, I can’t seem to find that piece on the original diagram.

Any chance there would have been an additional collar that the other prop needed that this new one doesn’t? It all seems to fit together about right without it.

I don't remember that collar being on them but I may be wrong. If the prop fits up without it but has slight end play when tightened correctly I would go with it after making sure it wasn't binding in any way. Make sure to either grease or put some never seize on those splines.
