Hello I’m not having any luck finding out what year my motor is. I’m going to repaint it but needing the year to get the right color match. Serial number is 682C S 061647. I attached picture of serial number and the motor itself. Thanks in advance!

I found the parts page on it... not sure year means much on those motors...

I'd just take a piece with the color on it and go into NAPA...look through the car books and find one that matches...... have them mix you up a spray can of 1 part urethane.....

Merc does everything by serial number not year model. You may have three different parts used in the same year. Some parts like water pumps have no part number associated with it. You need to remove and mic the old part and order the right size.

This matched my 1986 40hp. Yours could be somewhere on this chart:

I'm pretty sure that means it's an 82

If you do that you won't get the correct color. They make exact color replacement for that motor. If you go to an automotive paint place you will get the color it IS not the color it WAS. Those Mariners were the world worst about chalking up and will turn almost white out in the weather.

After seeing replacement decals were about $75 I had some other ones drawn up for much less. The Mariner word came out bigger than planned but the rest worked. Once I found the year with you alls help I got the right paint. Next go round if there is one I may go back to the original decals and pay extra but I’m going to paint my boat graphite so it should look good .
