I had been having a little problem with idle speed going up and down on it's own (2013 Merc 30 four stroke efi). I had been using non-ethanol gas with stabilizer. After having a chat with another old timer at the boat ramp about the problems he had with the same gas I was using, I tried a tank of top tier premium gas and the problem went away. My thoughts are the detergent additives may have loosened up a sticky idle air compensator valve. Nothing else had been changed, same filters, fuel line, tank, and stabilizer.
Interested if anyone has other theories.

If you think it's got some carbon fouling, try running some ringfree through it (mixed in the gas). Available at any yamaha dealer and also online.
