(Noticed I haven't posted in awhile; I'd say this is a good welcome back post...)

A friend of mine is moving house and was cleaning out his outbuildings and had a couple of old outboards stashed. Looking at a blurry photo, I didn't
recognize a few of them, but I spied the front panel controls of an Evinrude...

The only price I had to pay was my time to go and pick it up. Not in bad shape for almost 50 years old(I've seen worse...). Needs some TLC, and a good once over. The twist throttle is quite stiff, I'll have to trace that.

Haven't taken pics yet, I'll do that as soon as I get the 9.9 Merc off of the stand and onto the Springbok.

Cool find. I'm just starting into a 69 Johnson 6hp that I got for the same price. It sparked and sputtered so I did a carb kit. But wouldn't run worth beans so I pulled the flywheel. Hope yours is in better shape.

Those are some messy looking coils.

I got it to tinker and learn more than anything. If it turns out to need nothing more than some maintenance items, so much the better.

As promised, here's some pics. The motor was made in Peterborough, Canada. I wasn't able to get it running; when I tried priming fuel was spraying from between the fuel line connector and receptacle on the motor. Not sure if it's wear or they are not compatible...

Those little old evinrudes are the best. Here's my 1964 5.5 fisherman. I believe it was the last year you had to pull the power head to change the water pump impeller. Dang it!

I just boughtt another project boat that came with a a 1969 6hp Evinrude that looks and runs like new. I have to give it a good once over (waterpump ect) before I take it out on the lake but seems like a good little motor. I think you will really like it once you get it going good. I had one years back and it was a one pull motor for as long as I had it and regretted selling it.

That's a nice clean little motor. Great runner too! Thanks for sharing the videos.

I installed new coils on my '69 Johnson 6 and did a carb kit. It ran perfectly and starts so easily. We just got home from a 3 day interior trip on the French river here in Ontario. Those old motors seem to run forever.
