Just had the motor basically rebuilt. When I took it out for the first time I'm getting very low output when I'm in forward. When in reverse it's full throttle though. Not sure how it got this way.

There is a mechanism in the throttle linkage that limits how far the throttle opens in reverse. It sounds like whoever assembled the motor put that in backwards.

Thanks for the replies. Sorry I wasn't specific enough, I'm pretty new at this. It's on a 1440 jon boat. The best way I know how to describe it is it revs very high when in reverse and maybe less than half of that when in forward. A guy on a 5hp motor was able to come along beside me while in the water. I'm going to take it back to the guy that did the work and ask him about the throttle linkage.
