I actually lost what would have been my new PB. It was a 6+lb fish....

It's my new quest this year to beat it.

Nice Bass. I'll be out in Peoria, IL next week for work. I see Clinton Lake is about an hour away. Is there any good shoreline fishing? Or perhaps any good fishing near Peoria that you know of?

Sure. Clinton has Mascutin (SP) State Park, which has a couple of boat docks and some riprap. In addition, the Rt. 48 bridge can be fished from either side, and there is parking along the road. Many people will start catching some nice catfish off the riprap in the next week or two.
