Hi need some advise on this , 1, about how long would aluminum start to react with steel in fresh water? this will be only for a few months, 2,don't have much to spend, just got a new motor, want to build up the transom 5.5 inches so want to use angle iron, now suppose I wrap the angle iron in plastic and attach it to the transom will that hurt need your 2 cents please am looking for a tin boat with a20 inch transom but for now will use what I have, thanks ahead for feed back .

Yep, and it can be permanent if you isolate. For example, I have a snowmobile trailer that is all aluminum, but the axle mounts are obviously steel. A pad of rubber between the frame and the axle mounts takes care of it.
