I have an Alumacraft Drop Deck 15 that I am adding an aluminum deck in. I built the frame with 1 1/2"x 1 1/2" angle and I'm decking it with aluminum tread plate. I am drilling and tapping the angle and screwing the decking to it.

So my question is..... Would you put something between the angle and the decking to soften/ quiet your steps like a strip of rubber or vinyl or just screw the deck tight to the angle?

What would you put between the angle and decking if you were to do something like this?

Thanks for your input.

FYI ... BEWARE when using "some" silicone product on tin boats! Most cheap silicone products have an acetic acid content and that WILL etch or corrode aluminum ...

FWIW Starcraft recommends closed-cell 3M vinyl between tin layers, properly etched/primed ahead of time of course.
