Starting next season I'm going to concentrate on bass fishing with a fly rod. Back in the day I fly fished for trout on the north shore of Lake Superior but have since sold off all my fly fishing stuff.
I'm going to get a new 8 weight, four-piece graphite rod. Most of my fishing, well over 90% will be in fresh water. I often take a winter vacation in Belize and could potentially do some fly fishing while there. I'm wondering what are the components of the rod and reel that make it salt water worthy and whether I can use the same equipment for fresh water. I assume the difference is in the materials but don't know if the salt water gear would in some way not work for fresh water.
