What year evinrude 15hp carb

I have a 92 Johnson 9.9 with the plastic top carb. Will the older metal top 15 hp carbs work with my motor? What years will or won’t?

I'm pretty sure the ones all the way back to when the 9.9/15 model came to be will work. That's like 1974 maybe?

I ran an early 80's carb on my 1992 9.9 once to test it out and it worked fine. I like those older carbs much better than the plastic topped ones. Only negative in my limited experience was that my 92 model had a 15hp carb on it and when I put the old style 15hp carb on, the motor was definitely slower and didn't rev as high.
