Hardcore swimbaiters?
To be 100% honest I'm not sure exactly what a "swimbait" is supposed to be. Seems to mean a big minnow lure and/or a plastic lure with a paddle tail.

Exactly what it is LDUBS. But I notice that it's not just big massive 3oz+ size baits. It's also small baits which I use. That swimbait technique has a hardcore following. Some people dedicate their time to pursuing big Bass with swimbaits and nothing else. My arm hurts thinking about it.

There's a guy on our CT forum that seems to throw those things almost exclusively. He finds more 7lb+ class fish in CT/RI/MA than anyone else I've ever heard of.
My shoulder hurts just at the thought of chucking those things all day for 3 bites, but they're definitely 3 bites you want if they come.

I have a marriage license and a fishing license, but I only carry one in my wallet.

I haven't fished for large mouth bass for many years. I don't think the word swimbait was in the vocabulary, but I tossed a lot of stick minnow lures (Rebel & Rapala) for years. Thinking about the amount of water we covered tossing those lures, we should have caught a lot more fish.

Re: Hardcore swimbaiters?
I’ve been throwing big baits for about a decade and a half now. Locally, I’ve done best with MS slammers, 3:16 Wake Jr’s, Matt’s Hardgill, and some homebrew rats I’ve made. Messed around with big glides like the BullShooter and Godzilla, and I also have a couple of old school Gillzillas from Orso’s Dave Roberson that I treasure.
The bass in my local lake chow down on tilapia and gizzard shad, so big swimmers are a good choice many days. Here are some results.

Because the fish literally choke on big naturals like this:

I use a couple of Okuma swim bait rods and a Cabela’s musky rod along with Shimano Calcutta 400’s and Abu Garcia Revo Toros. All spooled with Trilene Big Game 25 or 30#.
